The Africa Resource Centre (ARC) was honored to participate in the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of the Ethiopia Pharmaceutical Association (EPA), held on December 4-5, 2024, in Addis Ababa.
This milestone event brought together key stakeholders from Ethiopia’s pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to reflect on EPA’s contributions and chart the future of pharmaceutical services in the country and beyond.
For the past five decades, the EPA has played a vital role in advancing pharmaceutical practices, strengthening healthcare systems, and ensuring access to quality medicines for all. Its members have continuously contributed to Ethiopia’s public health sector, private industry, and academia, fostering innovation and resilience even in challenging circumstances.
During the event, ARC reiterated its commitment to supporting Ethiopia’s health agenda, particularly in expanding access to quality medicines and strengthening pharmaceutical supply chains. ARC recognizes the EPA as a critical voice in shaping Ethiopia’s health sector and its broader role in driving transformation across Africa.
Dr. Bonface Fundafunda, Co-CEO of ARC, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of innovative pharmaceutical services and regional collaboration. He encouraged the EPA to extend its influence beyond Ethiopia by engaging with the African Union, regional economic communities, and key agencies such as Africa CDC, UNECA, AMA, and AMSP.
ARC was also honored to receive recognition from EPA for its contributions to Ethiopia’s healthcare landscape. This acknowledgment underscores the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships in ensuring equitable access to healthcare services and pharmaceutical innovations.
As Ethiopia embarks on the next phase of pharmaceutical advancements, ARC remains committed to working alongside institutions like the EPA, the Ministry of Health, the Ethiopia Pharmaceutical Supply Service (EPSS), and other public and private sector stakeholders.
