As we honour Prof. Yadav’s invaluable service, ARC is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nimrod Oupa Mbele as the new Interim Chair of the Board.

His leadership comes at a pivotal moment as ARC deepens strategic partnerships, expands its regional footprint, and strengthens the integrity and resilience of health systems across the continent. Dr Nimrod Oupa Mbele — Board Chair Biography
Dr Nimrod Oupa Mbele is a distinguished corporate governance expert and strategic advisor with more than 18 years of experience supporting boards and executive leadership teams to strengthen accountability, organisational performance, and ethical governance across the African continent. As Managing Partner of Knowledge Anchors Group, he has led high-impact governance, institutional reform, and strategy assignments for leading public-sector entities and private-sector organisations, contributing to improved organisational integrity, transparency, and strategic alignment.
Dr Mbele’s academic contributions at the Wits School of Governance and other business schools reflect his deep expertise in corporate governance, strategy development, state-owned enterprise reform, change management, and monitoring and evaluation. He has lectured and supervised postgraduate students, shaping the next generation of governance and public-sector leaders.
A respected thought leader in African governance, Dr Mbele is also the long-standing host of Beyond Governance on 101.9 ChaiFM—a thought-leadership platform where he engages influential voices on governance, leadership, and current affairs. His tenure as a judge for the Integrated Reporting (IR) Blue Chip Awards further solidified his reputation as an authority on corporate reporting standards and board effectiveness.
Dr Mbele holds a PhD in Corporate Governance in State-Owned Enterprises, alongside postgraduate qualifications in public policy and management. He is the author of the forthcoming book Reimagining SOEs in Africa and Beyond, which offers a bold vision for transforming state-owned enterprises into engines of development across Africa and emerging economies.
